Where does my money go?

At Lancashire Youth Challenge, your donation goes directly to supporting young people—where it matters most. We don’t own buildings or carry large financial overheads, which means 90p of every £1 you give goes straight into delivering our programmes. Your support helps pay experienced staff to lead workshops, run impactful programmes, and mentor young people. It covers transport costs so participants can access nature and new environments, and funds essential equipment needed to facilitate our programmes, such as fitness equipment, creat8iev tools such as cameras and musical instruments. The remaining 10p of each pound helps us cover essential operational costs, such as insurance, basic office expenses, and administrative support, ensuring we can continue to deliver safe and effective services. Every pound you donate is used with purpose, transparency, and care—maximising the positive impact on the lives of the young people we work with. Your generosity helps them grow, thrive, and find their voice.

Who does it help?

The young people who attend Lancashire Youth Challenge come from a wide range of backgrounds. Many are facing mental health difficulties, are neuro-diverse, have experienced domestic violence or abuse, or are living in poverty. Some are ‘looked after’ young people in the care system, while others are resettled refugees adjusting to life in a new country. Despite these hardships, they show incredible resilience and potential. Our programmes offer them a safe, supportive space to grow, connect, and build confidence. Through creativity, adventure, and mentoring, we help them discover their strengths and imagine a future full of possibility and hope.

What has Lancashire Youth Challenge already achieved?

Over the past ten years, Lancashire Youth Challenge has supported over one thousand young people, helping them to find their voice, build confidence, and develop the resilience needed to shape the lives they wish to lead. Our work empowers young people from all walks of life—especially those facing significant barriers—to explore their potential, express themselves, and pursue their ambitions with courage and creativity.

Our impact has been recognised both regionally and nationally, with widespread celebration of our innovative and compassionate approach. We are proud to have received the highest honour available to charitable organisations in the UK—the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, often described as the “MBE for charities.” This prestigious recognition is only awarded to charities that demonstrate outstanding service, high-quality delivery, strong leadership, and a proven track record of trust and impact.

This accolade reflects the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and supporters, and most importantly, the achievements of the young people we serve. Every programme we deliver and every story we help tell is a testament to the power of compassion, opportunity, and community. Lancashire Youth Challenge continues to grow as a trusted, capable organisation making real, lasting change in the lives of young people.
